四楼那句应该是：When he heard the news, his face lost color.  更好是：When he heard the news, the color drained from his face.

如果要用 participle phrase 开头就要这样：Having heard the news, he blanched.  Heard the news 不能在这里与后面主分句连接的，要用 present participle。可以用 past participle 的必须是不及物动词，如 Appalled, he rushed from the room, screaming at the top of his voice.
