Listening: 错3个
Reading: 45min,
Reading: 56min,

As most people spend a major part of their life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing.
What factors contribute to job satisfaction?
How realistic is the expectation of job satisfactions for all workers?
To my knowledge, though it’s not always possible to fulfill each individual in some particular work space, there’re still several positive factors to help cultivate a better and more encouraging environment.
For one thing, the referred factors, in my point of view,may include better salaries, opportunities of self-improvements as well as the resonance between workers interests and the projects’ characteristics. Let’s take a further look at these three items, beginning with salary. Being more practical and not so idealistic, one has to admit that salary plays an essential role, if not the single most important, in luring job satisfaction from most ordinary people. It’s not rare that underpaid employers tend to have a low opinion of their tasks, being depressed and passionless in work. Moreover, a second factor of vocational progressing opportunists is also crucial, especially to the ambitious ones who bear fabulous long-term plans in minds. Once workers have confidence in their brilliant futures, there’s no chance for them being unsatisfied. Besides, since interest is so often emphasized in whatever issues,it’s so much important to get involved with the right project.
On the other hand, however, it’s definitely impossible to cater to all these different expectations. A mutual relationship between employees and employers suggests that there’s no such thing as the so called free lunch, or the unbounded imagination of a perfect job. Tight budget, limited social resources, the dull but critical projects to keep the company alive, and other down-to-earth considerations just throw shades on our previous analysis of how to satisfy hard-working workers.
Despite all the positive and negative considerations, there’is for sure some point at which we can reach a balance between the real world constraints and all the encouraging means. Through constantly adjustments and improvements,it’s possible to create a harmonious atmosphere that pleases most people.
Listening:错2
Reading: 49min,
The chart compares the sources of electric power production in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000. A first glance would suggest that both countries almost doubled their production capacities during the 20 years. The total production goes up from 100 units in 1980 to 170 units in 2000 in Australia, while that figure changes from 90 to 180 in France.
In Australia, coal is the single most important source in the year 1990, which contributes to exactly half of the country’s total production. Mean while hydro power and natural gas both have a share of 20%, followed by oil taking up 10%. In 2000, coal becomes even more predominant, producing 130 units out of the overall 170 units. In the meanwhile, though hydro power still holds some importance with 36 units, the portion of natural gas and oil shrinks so much to 2 units each.
France, different from Australia, emphasizes nuclear power during the 20-year change. In 1980, the respective electricity power by coal, oil, natural gas, hydro power and nuclear power are 25 units, 20 units, 25 units, 5 units and 15 units. This averaged distribution chart in 1980 evolves into a rather unbalanced one in 2000, in which nuclear power attributes to 126 units, followed by coal and oil with only 25 units each. Hydro power and natural gas each makes only 2 units.
The figure illustrates how much different types of fish and meat are consumed by people in a European country between 1979 and 2004.
A first look into the figure suggests that during the period, chicken and beef are the top two choices, followed by lamb and then by fish. Actually, in the beginning year of 1979, each person takes in about 220 grams of beef every week, topping all other choices. After that, however, the intake of beef has been on a declining tendency that it lost its position to chicken in the year **. Chicken, on the other hand, goes up all the way from 140 grams per week in 1979 to about 250 grams in 2005. Moreover, as the NO.3 popular type, lamb shares a similar decreasing curve as beef has, which goes down from 150 grams in 1979 to 50 grams in 2004. That is to say in the year 2004, the top three places of residents’ preference are chicken, beef and lamb, respectively.
Besides, the curve for fish lies always at the bottom, showing that people in this European country are the least interested in fish. Though there is a slight decline from 60 grams per week to about 50 grams per week across the time span, it still can be regarded as quite stable. Day 5

Some people think that lawbreakers should be sent to prison. But others think that better talents among those should be made to work.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
I can understand why some people support to send outlaws to prison as punishment. For one thing, it’s human nature to hold the traditional idea of “you pay for what you did” and insist on the physical penalties. Once one breaks the law, there’s no doubt that he should be charged with his wrong deeds by court. Secondly, by holding the villains in prison, these dangerous human beings are kept isolated from the society, insuring the safety of most peaceful and law-abiding citizens. Thirdly, only with proper means of punishment, it is possible to intimidate some potential law-breakers. Imagine a society where clever and competent individuals are enjoying the privilege of not going to prison with unlawful deeds. What would happen? Maybe some of those smart guys would abuse the privilege and consider it a good deal to commit some crimes. Thus, there’s no doubt that jail is the definite final destination for lawbreakers.
On the other hand, I’m also in favor of the idea of assigning some suitable tasks to the prisoners and utilize their competence. It’s the society’s responsibility to punish the evil doers, but it’s also their duty to educate and help prisoners turn back to the right path. Arranging them in the right work might be one effective way of educating them, helping them regain their self-confidence. Besides, it’s also a good chance for these criminals to repay to the country and the society. In my opinion, if they have really made great contributions and are identified as turning into a better civilian, there should be some stimulus to reduce their time span in prison.
To conclude, both justice and mercy should be considered in how to treat lawbreakers. While justice demands a punishment in prison, the human nature aspect may suggest some alternative means.

Listening:
Reading:
Listening:
剑桥2.3 全对,oyeah,这才是应该的嘛;
Reading:
writing:
