Issue 8 平生第一次写这破玩意求狠拍
Issue 8 It’s often necessary ,even desirable, for political leaders to withhold information from the public.

Many people argue that in a democracy country especially, whose political leaders were voted by the publics, they should have the absolutely right for knowing everything they want. After a long time suppression by the government in the human history this claim seems to be logical, people are not willing to pay any confidence on the political leaders. They believe that the only thing they can do to prevent the political leaders abusing their power for their own interests is to obtain information as much as the political leaders have. It seems reasonable but not practical. Most of the time, revealing the information to the public does not make any sense even, in some time, cause some unexpected troubles. Just for these reasons, I agree that we should allow the political leaders to conceal some information from the public in a certain time under some strict rules and supervision.

The first reason, for which I hold my opinion, is that revealing some redundant information will pay lots of costs meaninglessly. For a modern effective society, the most fundamental way to ensure the society runs effectively and efficiently is specializing the jobs, people just need care about their own field of works. The president of the united stated reads hundreds of reports and signs sorts of files which seems to him routine works maybe tired him. However, if the white house publish these files everyday in the newspaper (can you imagine how much money they will take) to guarantee the public’s right to known, undoubtedly, it leads to kinds of complaints for many very particularly reasons in such a huge country. We have to confessed that most of the complaints are meaningless even just for fun. I cannot count for the money for the government to response those complaints, only revealing the information will costs lots of money and sacrifice the efficiency with no worthy benefit. The elected leaders often, with years of experience with social affairs, will be good at handling the everyday works with their colleagues effectively. In addition, the political leaders just like the ordinary people should have the right to keep secrets when the secret do little harm to the public. It’s not necessary for the political leaders to tell the public about their families or something like that just satisfying the public curiosity.

The second reason is that when the right to known encounter the national securities, the right must partly be given up. We cannot tell the ordinary people and the terrorists correctly. Consequently, some of the information just like the location of the arsenal should be withheld from the public. In fact in some urgent time like a time of war, every sensitive information would be controlled by the government strictly. For another facts, in some situation revealing the problem will cause the excrescent panic from the publics. These panic have nothing to do with the problem except aggravating the emergency situation. In 1969 the public didn’t know until the Apollo 11 came back to the earth safely, there was a mechanical problem which nearly leave the Apollo 11 on the moon forever. It’s better for NASA make their best efforts to solve the problem depends on their best scientists and engineers than announcing the accident at once only to see the public’s panic and sorrow.

Nevertheless, just as many people worried, the undue free for the political leaders to withhold information will result in many serious consequence like corruption or absolutely power without any restrict and supervision. We cannot tolerate the national security become a excuse for the political leaders to conceal the information. Whether withholding the information or not ,it should obey the laws adopted by the public. And the motivation must be gaining the maximum profits of the whole society not their own.

In all, withholding some information under some particular situation seems not bad or unacceptable as I discussed above. Most of the time, the critical comments is not as good as the a compromise proposal in a real society. When we give our votes to the political leaders ,we should also give them more confidence generously rather than the useless complaints and doubts.

We cannot tell the ordinary people and the terrorists correctly。
We cannot tolerate the national security become a excuse for the political leaders to conceal the information。
Most of the time, the critical comments is not as good as the a compromise proposal in a real society。
不知我说的对不对。
