“Only through mistakes can there be discovery or progress.”
Mistake
discovery or progress
The speaker contends that discovery and progress are only born in mistakes. I strongly agree with the speaker’s contention. History tells us that many splendid achievements are born with relevant mistakes. And for us, if we want to make discovery or progress, we must experience ** mistakes.
To begin with, the contention accords with our personal experiences. When we are born in the world, we learn to walk, to run and to jump by following down again and again. Then we attend primary school, high school and college in which we gained knowledge and through this era, we will make many mistakes in our homework and examinations. And then we stepped in society in which we must face the various social encounters that is coming and make us depress. Yet, only by this can we better adapt to society and find our way to a successful life.
Furthermore, we can learn many from the mistakes we make. And, the more mistakes we make for one thing, the shorter time remain to the success. Paul Ehrlich discovered a drug used to treat those with syphilis, and named it “Formula 606” to honor his 605 unsuccessful attempts. And each attempt helps him to expel a possible way of experiment. It solidly explained the importance of mistakes and what mistakes can give us. Though sometimes mistakes may make us fell negative, it brings us the determination, perseverance and, what’s more, confidence when facing failures. Hence the true theory itself is to overthrow the erroneous theories, that is to say, only through mistakes can true theory be made.
At last, we must accept a fact that we cannot avoid mistakes. Yet, we can make best use of it. For example, when we are doing some experiment, we will make many mistakes, we can compare them together by which we are perhaps going to find there is a windfall. Discovery and progress is just a mixture of the quintessence of each mistake. Hence we can assimilate mistakes to a part of success. On the other hand, while we make mistakes in one factory, we can avert ** the same mistakes in other factories. In a word, mistakes are not the obstacle that inhibit our advancing step, but the propellants that make us gain success.
In sum, the speaker correctly asserts that it is through mistakes that discoveries and true progresses are made. Though mistakes cannot bring us a directed discovery or progress, it plays an important role in our personal growth and advances in science. 加油啊 我的单词还没有背完 最起码你比我强::11
我的第一篇Issue,恳请大家帮我修改一下
Competition is ultimately more beneficial than detrimental to society观点:同意
提纲:1、充满竞争的经济体系比严格管制的体系有更高的效率
2、当多个人、团体或政党竞争政治地位时,公众将从中受益
3、学生之间的竞争有利于他们的自我提高
No people would deny that competition exists in every corner of our life, as resources in this world are always limited that not everyone of us will get just what we want in a easy way. I strongly agree that competition in contemporary society is an inevitable element for both the whole society’s progress and individuals’ development, though vicious competition may do harm to the society.
First of all, an economic system full of competitions will be more efficient than one that is completely regulated. Adam Smith had brought forth that “self-interested competition in the free market would tend to benefit society as a whole by keeping prices low, while still building in an incentive for a wide variety of goods and services”. That is, when businessmen compete with each other for their own interest, they tend to provide better goods at lower prices to potential consumers in case of getting into bankrupt. Following a principle of “survival of the fittest”, individuals who meet the society’s satisfaction by the greatest degree will flourish, promoting the efficiency of resource utility at the same time.
Secondly, when several individuals, groups or parties compete for the political power, the public benefits. Consider the American presidency competition between the Republican and the Democratic, it’s such a complex and prolonged process that candidates of both sides need to dedicate full energy to draw the public’s attention and favor. People will elect for those whose idea should bring most welfare for them, whose moral can be trusted, and who may lead the country to a more flourishing era. How could it be if competition is invalid and the holder of office is appointed by some person directly?
Thirdly, competitions between students will help their self-improvement. In school, there are so many incentives that make us full of enthusiasm to compete against others. For example, when we want to get scholarship, we have to achieve better grades than others, naturally we will study harder and absorb more nutrition from books; When we intend to join a student group or an associate or pursue a position of it, we must prove that we’re more qualified than other competitors; When participating study contests, we make full preparation to win the award; and....we find competition everywhere, and we have to enjoy competition if we long for our goals.
However, we need to be cautious of vicious competition. When companies adopt illegal measures to keep business, it may bring great harm to the public; if competition among students is overemphasized, great stresses will be put on them, causing negative influence on the achievement levels of them. It’s the same case in other fields.
In a word, fair competition between individuals, parties, even countries will undoubtedly bring more benefits than harm to the society, though we need to prevent unfair competition as much as possible.
