第一次写issue练了一篇34题,求狠狠地拍啊!!~~!!~~

第一次写,时间用了2个小时,没用参考资料。高手能帮忙看下么??愿意的话可以和我组作文互该校组。

The statement actually consists of two related claims: (1) colleges and universities should allow students to choose only those courses which would help them in career preparation instead of enrolling in a variety of disciplines; (2) it is because our society is work-oriented, so it would be useless and time-wasting to study so many disciplines. While I concede that sometimes it would be better for the students to enroll only in the courses for career concerns, however, it is of course not a necessary.

Admittedly, the placement of elective course has brought us some demerits as researchers indicated in several dissertations publicized recently, like causing too much distraction to the students, etc. Opponents of elective courses claim that the elective courses encapsulate a wide spectrum of knowledge and are a little bit too much for the students who are not accompanied with the aim of being a specialist in those fields. A large majority of students spent most of their time surfing on the Internet, or enmeshed themselves in the libraries to collect information they need in elective courses, thus, in turn, would eliminate the time students used to study their specialized courses. What is more, opponents argue that some elective courses require the students to conduct social work or a survey in their community, which would definitely distract the students from being focused on and striving for their specialized courses.

As for the second claim made by the statement, in certain aspects elective courses are some sort of “time-wasting”, yet it is necessary for colleges and universities to design an appropriate curriculum with elective courses, as they provide the students an effective way to learn knowledge of other fields. People hunt a job just for ** a living, and job is just a component of our lives. Apart from working eight hours or more daily, people need to communicate and interact with different others through information exchange, which is relevant to every possible field in the world. How could a man enjoy a talk to others quite apart from the knowledge acquired from the elective courses? Take another case for instance, supposing a student focused only on his chosen field, knowing nothing about other fields, like morality, laws, ethnics, etc. then how could he learn to be a man in our society? This kind of people is doomed to be ruled-out by civilized community and this upgrading society.

In the second place, rising of the inter-disciplinary study reminds us that it is hard to draw a line between disciplines nowadays. Specialists and professionals have always found knowledge of other disciplines helpful and inspiring. Architects, who have conducted their work with purely aesthetic and historical interest, have also made a leap forward with the inclusion of physics, mathematics and biology into their study. Designers, who have focused on aesthetic and artistic values in their works, have also gotten inspired through geometry, photography, and architectonics, besides, all their works have to be accomplished on a computer.

Finally, no one could afford to ignore that college or university students are youngsters with unstable personalities, which would follow that students could not make sure which field should they devote themselves into. Having experienced what they think they are interested in through elective courses, students might make the choice on their own to decide which field they want to get involved for their entire lives. Therefore, even if this is a work-oriented society we are living in, it is necessary for the students to enroll in various elective courses to help them make better understanding towards each field and thereby make a qualitative choice for their career.

In sum, the statement is not without merit, considering only the role of specialized courses in students’ career preparation. However, the statement ignores the importance attached to elective courses and over-generalizes about what the students need when stride a step forward into this work-oriented society.
