一般来说，一个有full time 工作的人，一周工作五天，每天晚上学习三到四个小时，周末两天每天学习十二到十四小时，准备一年可以考一个试（例如，step 1)。Step 1和step 2 可以在两年内考完。没有工作，全日呆在家里复习者，六到九个月的准备可以考一个试。
$Z w6[(U ~:G 一般看来，考过Step 1后考Step 2的人准备时间相对短一些。不过，可要注意，太急于求成可能会考过，但分数不高，还会给后面找住院医生训练带来困难。当然，山无绝人之路。不是说低分通过就完蛋了。
7Wk4{,t&z@6V 以上只是一个典型的数据，主要是对大部分八十年代毕业的中国医学生而言，现在的中国医学生的水平在各方面要比以前的高得多，尤其是全英班的，USMLE准备时间肯定会少些。这应当有信心。

%V+CM9qia It is not too many though. When you feel ready for the test, usually you have done that many questions. It includes the questions in the end of each cheapter you read and the question books.

Resident is a in-training position, like post doc. The salary level is very low compared the the work they have done. We should not compare the resident salary with a chief in the department or service in China or the US. +U/| Z9ge];c'O#H
Resident is a temperal job. You will not be in residency forever, just like you will not be a postgraduate student forever in China. There is some similarity between the postgraduate student in medical in China and a intern/resident physician in the US. Both of them are temperal and in-training position.m-P-},w&k"MntD!H
When you finish your residency training (like you graduated from your master/doctor degree postgraduate training in China), you have to look for a position of  attending physician. That will be you real job and the salary will be some thing between 100,000 to 200,000 american dollars depending on your training level, specialty, and job market for a first year attending physician.W1m4le4h&N9w+A[

Q9d Many years ago when I  visit the basic medical science/biology reseach lab in the US, I was surprised by out number of Chinese scientists/post docs/reseach fellows working in each deparment.However, no china graduated resident or attending  in the hospital where I visited at that time.

M!J Nowadays, you can see many china graduated residents in the hospital, here and there as well as china graduated attending taking care of patients and rounding with resident/interns.B^]nq }t;rBb
Just like china having changed its face dramatically in past 10 years, china medical graduates in the US have changed their profile with their efforts in past 10 year as well.J&o)CDju3L!^%s
I have to point out that many department chiefs in China do not want to hear that and do not want to tell the true what is going on about the chinese medical graduates in the US. That is why 15 year after chinese medical gradutes passing USMLE, the people inside China know almost not thing about it. I wish my presentation can give the audiance some ideals about the reality in this aspect.
