1. According to analyses, an alliance between three major personal computer companies and most of the nation's largest local telephone companies would enable customers to receive Internet data over regular telephone lines ________ currently possible.
D. at much higher speeds than that
E. at speeds much higher than are

D 的 at much higher speeds than 也可以,但是没有 at speeds much higher than 那么流畅。

2. The Environmental Protection Agency's proposal to place restrictions _______ that the move will exacerbate the nation's fuel supply problems.
A. on both diesel fuel and diesel engines has sparked a counterattack by the oil industry, saying
C. on both diesel fuel and diesel engines has sparked a counterattack by the oil industry, which says

EPA says that the move will exacerbate the nation's fuel supply problems,那显然不是这一句话的意思。

2. The Environmental Protection Agency's proposal to place restrictions _______ that the move will exacerbate the nation's fuel supply problems.

TOP

E.Published in 1899 ,"Maple Leaf Rag" was  an instant hit, selling serveral hundred thousand copies in six months:it helped establish Scott Joplin as the preeminent ragtime composer.

3. Unlike a hurricane, which can be observed from within, a tornado is so small __________.
A. that such a study has not been practical
E. as to be impractical of study

通常 so XX 后面是跟 that 自然的。

4. _________: Alvin Toffler, one of the most prominent students of the future, did not even mention microcomputers in Future Shock, published in 1970.
D.It can hardly be said that educators are at fault for not anticipating the impact of microcomputer technology
E.The fact that educators are at fault for nor anticipating the impact of microcomputer technology can hardly be said

The fact that educators are at fault,那就肯定教育家不对。

5. __________ cases of Lyme disease in the United States.
D. New Jersey’s has one of the five highest numbers of reported

New Jersey has the highest number of reported cases of Lyme disease in the United States.  In fact, it is one of the five states with the highest numbers.

So . . . as to 是相当古老的用法,通常都可以用 so . .

He has been so incompetent as to merit demotion. He has been so incompetent that he merits demotion.

A tornado is so small as to be impractical of study.
A tornado is so small that such a study has not been practical.
so small as to be impractical of study 里面的 impractical of study 是非常古怪的说法,很不自然,很不顺。

6. Houseflies that hatch in summer live only about three ___________________ longer than six months.
A. weeks, but those that emerge in the cooler days of fall often live
D. weeks; then those that emerge in the cooler days of fall often live as long as or
D为何错

D 那里姑且不论 live as long as 那个无理取闹的词组。

D. "Maple Leaf Rag" was an instant hit: it helped establish Scott Joplin as the preeminent ragtime composer, published in 1899 and selling serveral hundred thousand copies in six months.
E. Published in 1899, "Maple Leaf Rag" was an instant hit, selling serveral hundred thousand copies in six months: it helped establish Scott Joplin as the preeminent ragtime composer.

It helped established Scott Joplin as the preeminent ragtime composer, overshadowing all other black musicians.

在这里 D 就是因为 published in 1899 和 it 隔得太远。 所以应该是 it helped establish Scott Joplin as the preeminent ragtime composer, and it was published in 1899 and sold several hundred thousand copies in six months.

Asrgbf

TOP
