" h0 b# L4 [* s& O( a9 y: b- {The author claims that it is only relevant to our lives that studying history is valuable. In a sense, I agree that hitory can teach us how to live through daily lives. However, the speaker begs for question by overlooking the other valuable aspects provided by history and unfairly give them a second priority.

5 z5 }, L, z3 w) ?% {5 A' AHistory, a recorded human experience, is capable for giving ue lessons nowdays. Though the pace od human development is never stop, the basic human nature-----our desires and motives, as well as our fears and flaws has remained constant over recorded time. And through this realazitian we can benifit in dealing with our social problems today. For example, the Cold War informed us that we couldn't make a better place for ourselves without a sense of cooperation and living together peacefully. Competitiving unhealthly during the Cold War, both US and Souviet paid for their great loss afterwards, though respectively. A lot of battles in some countries, the seriousness of global environmental problems and the crisis of survival of species, which happened in several decades before and can be viewed as history, tell us that these pressing social problems can not be solved apart from cooperative international efforts. In short, since the human nature is still stable through a long period of time, what happened in the history and is concerning the issues of today, could guide us effectively.

On one hand, learning about the courage and experience of history's great explores, leaders and other achievers inspires us to similar accomplishment, at least to face the obstacles we meet in our lives. Many students who barely have interests in a subject may devote himself or herself to that and even pursue a career in that field only after reading about a famous one of that subject. When confronting a problem that makes us fear, what we learned about how the famous achievers did can provide us with courage and help us get through the daily business. On the other hand, mistakes of the past can teach us how to avoid repeating them. For instance, after every ecnomic crisis, a new law or new system will be introduced in order to prevent ecnomy from another damage. What' more, studying history helps us understand and appriciate the mores, values and ideals of the past.3 }' O2 e: b1 D( }

In sum, there are several ways we can benifit from learning history. History informs us that human nature is stable, which teaches us to understand each other,and can inspire us at the same time. Meanwhile, we cannot ignore that history can help us make dicisions in issues of today.
