No one could deny the fact that it was science and technology brought the golden ages of human races. Every minute we live we depends on the achievement of progress in every realms. However, it was also technology that brought us some unprecedented troubles in the contemporary modern lives. To the author's claim that technology was not always a positive force in modern life, I have to present my maximized agreement in no time.
Firstly, everyone must understand that the positive effect brought by technology to the society could never be underestimated. In retrospect to the human history, we could draw a obvious conclusion that the development was the original force that drives the world march ahead. Almost every great evolution in human society accompanies the great achievement in science and technology: the appearance of agriculture gave birth to the ownership of land, which was the base of the formation of feudalism, the childhood of human civilization; the discovery in nature broke the shackles that religion settled on citizens in mid- ages; that possibility of the social work in large scale made the feudalism off its stage, then the capital economy market latter formed in no time; and the achievement in the 3 times industry revolutions brought the golden ages of human races. With out the first try of using a branch as a tool, we human still act like other kinds of animals on the earth. Human stepped out of the other life-forms at the moment the flame of technology, or maybe just the skill to survive, was lit.
We could discovery this trend not only in history but also in our daily lives today. Just look at the surroundings of us, almost everything we see were the product of development of technology. Something we thought quite common today was out of the range of imagination for the people one hundred years ago. The achievement in medical care over the centuries makes people could live much more longer than 1000 years ago. Many fatal diseases before could be cured easily in hospital today. And the great invention of vehicles takes people around the world in significantly short time. The world around journey does not only exist in Jules Verne's fictions, and the time it cost could be much shorter than 80 days. What's more, thanks to the development of information and communicating methods, I could take the tests of another country, which lies on the other side of the earth, just like I am doing. The powerful internet could help you get any piece of information you want, which might cost you several months in the tradition way of searching in libraries.
However,
there was not only the positive forces that the technology brought to us, but also the negative forces. The most troubling problems today was also all the by-products of the development of technology. Lets see the what have we paid for the comfortable and abundant life we are enjoying: in the medical care realm, the most perspective technology - the gene therapy, also brings the crisis of the abuse of clone technique, which was an act of big challenge to the basic ethic rules; the increasing number of automobiles release large amount of harmful gas, which not only causes the danger of health problems but also produce the element that destroys the living environment. Along with the convenience and high speed in communication, the possibilities of information crimes was also provided by internet. Some serious cases in the past have show how serious it will be when computer attack happens. In a word, technology was not always a positive force, as the author claims, the world understood this principle by suffering some unforgettable pains.
Some may ask what attitude we should take toward technology. In my point of view, we must admit the fact that any kind of technology has too sides. The use of technology could make the positive forces, and also the negative forces at the same time. The improper way of using technology might cause a serious problem, which is much bigger than the benefits to us. Only with rational analysis, the use of technology in a property degree could make our lives better with out causing much more crisis. Secondly, the technology itself was of neither good nor evil. It is of neutral and objective. For the nuclear technique, could be used to make clean and effective energy, and also the weapon of mass destroy. People's will dominates the direction of blade of technology, to blaze a brighter future for us or, give pain to ourselves.
