0 g4 t9 n; {: W4 ~- _& X就是说没有这样一个牛x的价值来inform这样一个归纳，也和前面 there is hardly a generization相符合。

dave，这道题是steven版主整理的的98年11月份的section1的填空第一题，我也觉得这道题不是很好翻译，尤其在“and the values informing it that cannot be”这块儿，感觉句式很别扭，是不是有打印错误的地方。而且找不到明显的对应和重复关系。你没做过这道题么？还是98年11月份的不是这道题？

1：先抓住开头的hardly很有力的概括与后面的simplistic构成相反。
8 `  n7 \; B9 ~% }$ @2：找出负态度的词来。CE可以。4 @3 _% S- O3 o
3：注意even，后一个词要比前一个程度更深，并且两个词都是负面的词，而challange,dismiss最合适。C两词虽然都是负态   度，但不构成程度加深。

呵呵，谢谢dave和d.rain，有点理解了，至少我发现自己忽略了even这个词的作用。不过即便是hardly提示前后反意，为什么就说空1是个负态度词？况且空1前面的词组是can not be，我觉得这干扰了我的思路。

东西本来很hardly,而现在是simpilistic，肯定是一个负态度的词来削弱它才会变简单的。can not be 更说明这里要填负态度啊。不能被怎么样，原先很牛，而现在菜了，不就是说不能被变菜吗？

首先hardly是“几乎不”的意思，是个负向词，而其后的can be是正向词，所以根据乘法原则，负正得负，那么可知hardly...can be合起来表示负向意思，social behavior和the values之间用and连接，说明前后表达的意思一致，所以可知后面也应该是负向意思，那么can not be是负向词，则空1就应该是个正向词，这样才能负正得负。到这里可以去看各个选项的第一个词，找出正向词（你原来的解释是找负向词，这里我的思路和你不同），A的accepted可以，备选；B的intuited不是正向也不是负向，舍弃；C的harangued是负向词，舍弃；D的defended可以算作正向词，备选；E的challenged，我认为是正向词，理由是“挑战”的目的是为了达到一个好的结果，比如我们挑战GRE，是为了拿到理想的分数，而不是挑战了GRE，却希望被GRE打败，所以，我觉得challenge是正向词，备选。现在留下了ADE三个选项。接着，空2前的or even仍然表示前后意思一致，所以空2也是个负向词，ADE中只有E的dismissed表示负向，所以答案是E。% L0 s" E$ @( M; ~" x!
