This is scientific Americans, 60 second science, I'm Steve Mirsky. Got a minute! “Lasers”, Doctor Eveal wanted lasers to get mount on shark’s heads to get osten powers. But this week reseachers announced the creation of lasers on little chips or rather chip-lasers. Silicon in familiar stuff of chips can direct light. And some compounds such as indian fastfad killing midnight when that with some voltage. Now sciencetist at Intel at the university of Canifornia Center Bobora have made chip that combine the attributes of the two materials to produce continuous laser light. A little voltage gets the indian fastfad to a midnight, which then travels down detected by silicon wave guard. The laser light can indrive another elctronics. The laser-chip is cheap too because it can be made with connventional silicon cheap manuifacturing technics. The hope is that the new chip could make future computers way faster then todays, because they would rely on optical data flows that would transmit information from what be a fire holes compared to today’s electronics.
