比刚好还多。。。就是稍微喝多了。。


28  A pound too dear

1、 A pound too dear
一镑不值。。
可以用…too dear来表示什么事物并不值得如此大花精力,钱财。。

2、 It was difficult not to be tempted.
要想不为这些东西所动心是很困难的。
说想要可以说 want to/ intend to/desire/ 还有 tempted。。这个从另一个方面说明货品的诱人。。而前面一些可能更加主观的感情因素比较多。

3、 I had nosooner got off the ship than I wasassailed by a man who wanted to sell me a diamond ring.
    下船,就被一个人截住,他向我兜售一枚钻石戒指。

4、 …, but asa special favour, he would let me have it for£8.
    作为特别优惠,他愿意让我出8英镑成交。

5、 Shrugging my shoulders, I began to walk away when, a moment later, heran after me and thrust the pen into my hands.
